Sometimes
support doesn't
start with words.

Life after service can bring stress, isolation and a transition that doesn't always fit neatly into traditional programs. Sometimes what someone needs first is simple — space to breathe, move and be around people who understand.

That's the idea behind Grounded.

The Grounded Experience

Five Practices.
One Experience.

Grounded brings together five intentional practices to create a supportive, approachable and community-centered experience for veterans.

Veterans and community members resting in a guided breathwork session on mats in a calm indoor space

01Breathwork

Slow the pace. Find the breath.

Guided breathing practices can support relaxation, present-moment attention and self-regulation. No experience needed.

02Movement / Yoga

Reconnect with your body.

Accessible movement at a pace participants choose for their own bodies.

03Sound

Create space for stillness.

Singing bowls, chimes and gongs fill the space with layers of sound while participants rest comfortably.

04Nature

Step outside the noise.

Outdoor settings offer a change of environment and a reason to slow down.

05Community

Don't do it alone.

Every practice happens alongside people who understand parts of the journey after service.

Help make the experience possible

Give to Grounded

The body carries
the journey, too.

Transition isn't only about employment, housing or benefits. It can also mean changes in routine, identity, relationships, stress and belonging.

Why These Practices Matter

Breath, movement, sound, time outdoors and community can create opportunities to slow down, reconnect and experience wellness outside of a clinical setting.

Grounded is not a replacement for therapy, medical care or other veteran services.

It is another doorway into wellness, connection and community.

The grant
didn't happen.
The idea
still matters.

Grounded was originally going to be supported through grant funding. When that funding wasn't awarded, we had a choice: let the idea stop there, or invite our community to help bring it to life.

We chose community.

Where It Goes

Your support becomes
a place to exhale.

$15,000 can help support a full season of Grounded experiences, including:

  • Practitioners

    Instructor and sound-healing practitioner fees.

  • Equipment

Sound equipment needed to create the experience.

  • Mats & Props

Yoga mats, props and supporting materials.

  • Outreach

Helping veterans discover Grounded and learn how to take part.

You don't have to be “good at wellness.”

No previous yoga, breathwork or sound-bath experience is expected. Show up, slow down and experience something different alongside community.
